Today, we are talking about the “human” skills leaders need to demonstrate as they manage the ups and downs of leading a company. While many executives believe that they demonstrate these skills daily, many admit to the challenge of demonstrating them in times of stress. And let’s face it, being an executive is stressful.

Listening Tops the List

Listening is a soft skill that surfaces with nearly every coaching client. In my experience, most leaders know how to actively listen, but they find themselves incredibly distracted when they are interacting with others. These distractions keep them from listening effectively to their peers, direct reports and customers. This gap in listening limits their effectiveness and productivity.
